Over 12,000 Jaysh Al-Islam militants and their family members have left the East Ghouta town of Douma since the start of this month, the Syrian military reported this morning.

The Syrian military report added that more than 167,000 people have been either evacuated to government areas or rebel-held territories in northern Syria since the start of the army’s East Ghouta offensive.

A few thousand Jaysh Al-Islam militants and their family members remain inside of Douma, and should be transported to the western countryside of the Idlib Governorate.

Once the last of the Jaysh Al-Islam militants leave Douma, the town and the East Ghouta region will be declared fully under the control of the Syrian military since 2011.
