Chairman of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission arrived in Damascus on Tuesday evening to confer with Syrian officials on latest regional developments.
Alaeddin Boroujerdi who heads a delegation of Iranian MPs was welcomed by Faisal al-Khoury, his Syrian counterpart, at the Damascus International Airport.
Boroujerdi told reporters upon his arrival at the airport that he is there to convey the congratulation message of Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani to Hammouda Youssef Sabbagh, the new speaker of the People’s Council of Syria.
The Iranian legislator said that he will talk latest developments in Syria and the region with the Syria officials.
Iran and Syria enjoy cordial and strategic ties. Islamic Republic has made its best to help Syria in fighting foreign sponsored terrorism.
