Russia, Turkey, Iran Held Second Round Of Syria Talks

Russia, Turkey, and Iran participated in a meeting to discuss mechanisms to monitor the cease-fire they brokered in Syria on Feb.6.

Three countries met in Astana at the second meeting to discuss details of the implementation of the Syrian ceasefire agreement.

Moreover, Damascus and the opposition were proposed to create working groups on new Constitution development which are later to be reestablished into a joint commission on new Syrian Constitution.

The first round on January 23-24 failed to make progress toward a political settlement of the 6-year-old civil war, but the sides did agree to create a mechanism, called the Joint Operational Group (JOG), to monitor the fragile cease-fire in Syria. After that Russia proposed a draft constitution for Syria which all sides of conflict promised to use in further work.
